Logan County softball, baseball teams get ready for regionals this week

Logan County’s smaller teams in Class 2A-A-B will compete in regional action this week at various sites across the state. Crescent’s girls softball team, which had to beat Walters twice in play-in games last week, winning 10-9 and 5-2, travel to Boone-Apache for its regional tournament.

Kade Varner threw for five touchdowns -- four to Isaiah Lovett, who had five catches for 177 yards -- as the Crescent Tigers opened district football action Friday night with a 48-15 romp against the Watonga Eagles.

Guthrie High’s varsity cross country teams set the pace in their divisions and the junior high’s cross country teams each placed second in Saturday’s meet at Hennessey. In the boys varsity race, Guthrie scored 43 points to defeat the Oklahoma City Knights Home School team by 14 points.

Guthrie High’s softball team went 3-0 last week in non-district games, tuning up for key district games that will decide which teams host the playoffs. The Lady Bluejays were scheduled to play Noble and Piedmont this week.

JH Lady Jays Volleyball vs Carl Albert – saw some great plays and saves on both sides, along with a packed house for the first home game of the season – next game is 9/6 @ home vs Shawnee Wolves. Team A – 1st set score 5-25, 2nd set score 16-25 Team B – 1st set score 25-22, 2nd set score 18-25, 3rd set score 7-15 Team C – 1st set score 25-22, 2nd set score 25-15 (WITH THE WIN)
