GPWA seeks judgment against Councilwoman

The Guthrie Public Works Authority (GPWA) filed a petition for declaratory judgment Tuesday against Guthrie Councilwoman Patty Hazlewood and Karen Schandorf. GPWA and City of Guthrie Attorney Randel Shadid said this suit was filed in hopes of proving the GPWA and the City of Guthrie are separate legal entities. Shadid said the City of Guthrie benefits from the GPWA by receiving the funds paid for water services. But it is the GPWA that sets water rates.
