The December 2022 Support & Certified Employee of the Month were presented a plaque and a $25 Sonic gift card from Lions Club today. Here are the winners and the person that nominated them for the award. TOP - December Certified EOM was Elizabeth Renfro and she was nominated by Fonda Hefner. CENTER - Nominated for Student of the Month by Megan Hutchison was Zoe Herbert, a 10th grader at Guthrie High School. Blake Wimsey from Foundation Insurance presented Zoe with a $50 Walmart Gift Card. BOTTOM - December Support EOM was Juan Robles and he was nominated by Shane Robinson. Congratulations to Juan and Elizabeth for being selected as the December Employees of the Month and Zoe as Student of the Month! Nominations for January Employee and Student of the Month are due by noon on Wednesday January 3rd.

Guthrie High senior wrestler Eli Kirk won all seven of his matches this past weekend to pin down the 126-pound championship at the Mid-America Nationals in Enid. The Bluejays finished 11th as a team.

This year’s Kiwanis Christmas Live Auction on Saturday, December 3rd, was possibly the most successful in the history of the organization’s Guthrie holiday tradition. Starting at 10:00 a.m., the bidding began on more than 300 donated items in Guthrie’s City Hall in the City Council Chambers. Viewers were able to watch the excitement live on Cox Channel 20; or live streaming Guthrie News Page, YouTube, or Facebook until 7:00 p.m. when bidding ended.

Stray dogs and cats have gotten a reprieve -- at least for the time being. Guthrie’s City Council on Tuesday tabled amending a city ordinance that would prohibit the act of feeding stray dogs and cats, and feral cats, within city limits.
