Gallo Named Third Team All-American

Her commute tells it all. Haley Gallo, a Guthrie Blue Jay entering her sophomore year, loves softball. Last week, Gallo was named a 2022 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third-Team All-American. She made the team as an outfielder. Gallo is the lone Oklahoman on the team.

Guthrie Baseball Coach Resigns, Will Continue Teaching

Casey Porter is turning over the keys to the Guthrie baseball program. Porter, the eightyear head coach of Blue Jay baseball, has resigned. He has been a staple of the Guthrie community, also teaching special education for 18 years. Currently, Porter teaches U.S. History and AP U.S. History.

Lake levels as Fourth of July weekend approaches

The summer is in full swing and families are searching for water to play in with heat hammering Oklahoma.  With the Fourth of July being celebrated Monday, Oklahoma lakes are set to see a rise in people taking advantage of the amenities Oklahoma lakes have to offer.

Bluejays get cracking on the football field

The crunching of colliding football pads and the piercing sound of whistles have returned to the Guthrie Bluejays’ football practice field. Coach Kelly Beeby and the coaching staff have been evaluating the roster during the spring workouts. “We’re reviewing our returning starters,” Beeby said.

Growing Rodeo Sport World Finals Coming to Lazy E in July

Dale Armstrong exudes cowboy, as does his creation. He is the CEO of US Mounted Shooting, one of two mounted shooting federations in the country, helping popularize the fast-growing rodeo sport that combines speed on the saddle with shooting accuracy.

GHS track teams battle wind at Piedmont

The Guthrie High School track teams battled the wind all day April 29 in Piedmont for the Suburban Conference meet but still came away with some impressive performances in the meet. The girls finished in third place and the boy’s team in fourth place in the varsity meet.
