Casey Porter is turning over the keys to the Guthrie baseball program. Porter, the eightyear head coach of Blue Jay baseball, has resigned.
He has been a staple of the Guthrie community, also teaching special education for 18 years. Currently, Porter teaches U.S. History and AP U.S. History. He will remain teaching at Guthrie.
The job opening was posted to multiple job sites on July 1. The move comes after Porter led the Blue Jays to a 25-13 record the past season.
Porter accumulated a 139-99 record in his tenure. He took over as skipper in 2014 when Jon Chappell, a member of the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, moved from a coaching to administrative role.
