Guthrie Grapplers Gain Confidence, Face Tough Tests Ahead

Jaden Davenport likes what he sees so far from his Guthrie High wrestling team. The Bluejays have three wins in four dual meets and placed third overall at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational Tournament in Duncan on Dec. 19–20.

Third straight rally caps Crescent girls’ 6-0 hoops start

It’s been quite a turnaround so far for the Crescent High School girls basketball team.Winners of just six games a season ago, the Tigers have reached that total in their first six games of the 2025-26 season.Coach Kary Heath credits the program’s culture for the about face.

White Team wins Guthrie Blue and White World Series

The White team rallied for two runs in the fourth inning to secure a 2–1 victory in Game 3, clinching the Blue-White World Series. Hayden Clymer was named the series MVP for his standout performance.

Guthrie Wrestling's Carey Finishes First, Lyons Takes Fourth

Congratulations to senior Luke Lyons, who finished fourth, and junior Clayton Carey, who finished first at the Mid-America Nationals in Enid. The team recorded many strong matches and finished 11th out of 33 teams from Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas and Utah.

 Guthrie’s Kolson Smedley was feeling it in the first game of the Community Christian School Classic on Dec. 11.Smedley, a junior guard, scored 18 points in the first half and 17 points in the second half against the OKC Storm, a team of homeschooled players led by standout Tyce Fulton.

The Crescent boys and girls basketball teams swept the Maud Invitational over the weekend, each claiming championship wins in a strong early-season showing.The Crescent girls edged Alex in a tight title game, winning 44-41 behind a late defensive stand that sealed the victory.
