Hammons runs for over 200 yards, Bluejays fall to Buffaloes 27-21

The game was all you would expect out of a Class 5A quarterfinal playoff game on Nov. 19 in McAlester. The only down side was the Guthrie Bluejays fell short 27-21 to the No.1 McAlester Buffaloes to end a magnificent season at 10-2.

Wildcats score early and often, advance to third round 55-6

The second round of the Class A football playoffs are in the books, and the Cashion Wildcats are into the third round after rolling Hooker 55-6 on Nov. 19 in Cashion. The third round finds the Wildcats traveling to the north to Woodland High School this Friday night for a third-round game.

Counts and Ryans named Crescent Winter Homecoming Queen and King

The Crescent High School basketball teams celebrated homecoming on Nov. 19 in its season opening game against Wellston. Senior Kaylie Counts was named the queen and senior Ethan Ryans was named the king in ceremonies at halftime of the boy’s game. Counts is the daughter of Nick and Heather Counts.

Bluejays declaw the Bears, 40-0, #1 McAlester next

The Guthrie Bluejays were at home for a playoff game for the first time since 2014, hosting a tough Noble Bears team that brought an offense in averaging over 40 points a game.

Wildcats open title defense with 48-14 win, Hooker next

The Cashion Wildcats opened defense of their Class A championship on Nov. 12 with an easy 48-14 win over Dibble in Cashion. The Wildcats are at home again Friday night, hosting Hooker (10-1) in a second-round game with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Wildcats beat Hooker last year in Cashion 60-22.

Bluejays finish season 9-1, Bears at Jelsma Friday night for first round playoff action

The Guthrie Bluejays are on to Week 11 and a home playoff game against the Noble Bears this Friday night after rolling an undermanned Western Heights Jets team on Nov. 5, 55-0 to improve to 9-1 on the season.

Tigers celebrate Senior Night, lose to rival Cashion, 40-8 to end season

The War on 74 rivalry between Cashion and Crescent was played on Nov. 5 in Crescent. It was Senior Night for the Tigers while the Wildcats eventually took command on their way to a 40-8 win. The Tigers finish the season 3-7, 0-5 in district play and are through for the year.

Lady Bluejays Softball Garners Post Season Honors

The Guthrie High School Lady Bluejays landed three players in player of the year categories and three more on the first team all-district selections. Guthrie also laned three more players on the second team honors.
