Coyle School Foundation Hosts Events

The Coyle School Foundation will host its 3rd annual Gala on Friday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. with a dinner catered by Smokin’ Joe’s BBQ. There will be a reception and dancing available as well as a Silent Auction. The event will be held at The Range Wedding and Event Venue, Stillwater, OK. The funds raised from the event will benefit students from Coyle School which has students attend from Coyle, Langston, and Meridian. “The Gala is a great way to give back to the community and have some fun while doing it. It is always exciting and encouraging to see individuals from all over come together to support the students from Coyle, Langston, and Meridian.” Those interested should register for the Coyle School Foundation Gala event by Friday, March 1, to help with planning. Great American Cleanup Opens, Grant Applications Available An estimated 14,000 volunteers in Oklahoma will join millions nationwide to participate in the 2024 Great American Cleanup in Oklahoma. The statewide litter remediation and beautification program engages individuals, community groups, civic organizations, municipalities and companies in all 77 counties in Oklahoma.

Wells signs LOI to play golf at Friends University

Guthrie Senior Rylin Wells signed a Letter of Intent on January 11 to continue her golf career at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. Wells plans are to get a degree in radiology. Wells qualified for the 2023 state tournament with her Guthrie teammates and finished with a score of 206 over two days of competition. Wells was the 2023 Football Homecoming Queen and is the daughter of Bryan and Melissa Wells. Friends Golf Coach Paul Howell, Guthrie Girls Golf Coach Jason Rice and Guthrie Athletic Director Jon Chappell were also present for the signing.

Forensic Audit Implicates former Coyle Town Clerk and Treasurer

In the second such case in six years, Oklahoma State Auditor & Inspector Cindy Byrd released the results of a forensic audit finding significant misappropriation of funds by a town employee. Byrd’s report, released last Wednesday, January 10, uncovered evidence that Jennifer Jones, then the Town Clerk and Treasurer, siphoned off $63,663.93 from the funds of the Town and its directly- affiliated Public Works Authority.
