The polling place for Precinct 311 has changed, the Secretary of the Logan County Election Board announced today. Voters in Precinct 311 formerly voted at Generations Church, 2524 W.

Voters in Logan County who want absentee ballots mailed to them for the March 5 Presidential Preferential Primary Election and Logan County Special Election should apply now, County Election Board Secretary Sheleen Winscott said today.

On November 13, 2023, the Chief Financial Officer for Guthrie Public Schools, Dr. Michelle Chapple, discovered what appeared to be irregularities while conducting a routine audit of the district payroll. She reported her findings to GPS Superintendent, Dr. Mike Simpson. Further investigation ensued the following day including a meeting with the employee who processed payroll for the district, Linda Campbell. Following that meeting, the Guthrie Police Department was notified and a police report was taken. Dr. Simpson accepted the resignation of Ms. Campbell on November 15, 2023.

Guthrie High’s boys basketball team capped a busy weekend at the Buckle of Wheat Tournament in Kingfisher by defeating previously unbeaten Perkins-Tryon 6448 in the championship game Saturday night.

Two people were killed last Thursday morning as a result of a fatality collision at State Highway 74 and Cimarron Boulevard in Cimarron City. David Wesley Rout, age 82, of Crescent, driving a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500, was pronounced deceased on scene by Miller EMS and transported by the Oklahoma City Medical Examiner to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Oklahoma City.

The Guthrie City Council Tuesday approved a special election to be held Tuesday, April 2 for a proposal to extend the City’s Capital Improvement Tax (CIP) for an additional 15 years from June 30, 2031 to June 30, 2046.
