Cookies, cake, pie and other delicious desserts were served to hundreds of community members this summer at the Oklahoma State Bank’s Guthrie branch to help fund Guthrie Public Schools’ fall semester.

Throughout July, the bank raised more than $1,400 in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce at their annual “Stuff the Bus” bake sales.

Sweets were sold at the bank every weekend to fund GPS’ school supply list. However, public schools are always in need of more funding.

According to a 2021 study from the AdoptAClassroom nonprofit, teachers spend about $800 of their salaries on school supplies, or about 25% more than what they paid for supplies in 2015.

Although the desserts are gone, you can still help Guthrie Public Schools with school supplies and funding donations.

It’s efforts like these that continue to make Guthrie Public Schools better.
