OKLAHOMA – Each year, the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition (OVAC) hosts the 12x12 Art Fundraiser, which features diverse art by 175 Oklahoma artists. Each artist creates a unique piece that is twelve-by-twelve inches, and the artwork is auctioned during the one-night event! This year, the auction is coming back as an in-person event held outdoors, but you can still bid on art from home! The outdoor event will feature live music, with a DJ. Mark your calendars for Friday, September 24th, 7pm-10pm, at Dunlap Codding, 609 W Sheridan Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73102

“After careful consideration of the recent increase in cases of COVID-19, we have decided to move the location of this year’s event to an outside location. The safety of our patrons, artists, and staff is of the upmost importance,” says Executive Director, Krystle Kaye. “We only want to gather if we feel we can do so safely and hosting the event outside seems to be the safest option.”

Mark your calendars to browse, bid, and buy artwork through the auction in-person or online! We will be using the Handbid app from our virtual fundraiser to connect art supporters throughout the entire state. Visit www.12x12ok.org to give online, buy tickets, and register to bid.

“Our Grants for Artists program is essential for Oklahoma artists to make their practice even more professional, receive new education, and take that next step forward in their careers,” says Kaye. “OVAC was founded to provide funding for individual artists, and in the thirty-three years since then, we have awarded over $900,000 to artists through grants, awards, and art sales.”

This year, Tulsa’s own Lissa and Jim Shaw are the honorary co-chairs of the annual12x12 Art Fundraiser. “We are honored to be a part of this organization which supports the development of artist in every facet from creation to exhibitions,” says Lissa. “No other organization in our state comes close to providing the education, business skills, grants, guidance, and celebration of our Oklahoma artists!”

This event is sponsored in part by Heartland, Dunlap Codding, John McNeese and John Richardson, Allied Arts, the Oklahoma Arts Council, Kirkpatrick Family Foundation, George Kaiser Family Foundation, and the Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts.

In addition to moving this event outdoors, we are carefully watching CDC guidelines for best practices regarding COVID-19. Please check www.12x12ok.org for the most up-to-date information on what to expect at this event.
