Made for Excellence (MFE) and Advanced Leadership Development (ALD) are annual leadership conferences that the Oklahoma FFA Association enjoys putting on. MFE is organized for 8th, 9th, and 10th grade, while ALD invites 11th and 12 graders. The twoday conferences, held at numerous hotels in Tulsa and Oklahoma City, welcome all Oklahoma FFA chapters.

A group of Mulhall-Orlando FFA members and advisor Tonya Middleton set out for Oklahoma City on the morning of Saturday, December 10. They enjoyed a quick brunch at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop before heading downtown for registration.

Callen Oldenburg, Casyn Larman, Willie Schoonover, Hanna Schmidt, and Lora Golay registered for ALD. The members then attended two sessions and listened in on lectures focused on team leadership, communication, and goal setting. They also participated in activities with such important aspects in mind. The night was wrapped up with a delicious dinner provided by the hotel, a talent show, and a dance in which everyone attended. The conference resumed Sunday morning after breakfast. After two more sessions, ALD was wrapped up with team presentations that had been worked on throughout the conference. Team members were required to work together in order to develop an infomercial, come up with a mascot, write or rewrite a song, design a t-shirt, plan an event, and more. Kaylee Blagden, Jace Taylor, Alison Cook, Emma McFall, and Dax Pack followed a similar schedule at MFE. These members registered shortly after the older kids, and attended sessions centered around motivation, self-esteem, teamwork, and goal setting. After a variety of fun activities, they got to attend a dance, too. The conference kept rolling throughout Sunday morning, and it was finished by noon. Looking back at the weekend, the Mulhall-Orlando FFA members had a fun and eventful weekend. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity of learning valuable life skills and developing new friendships that will last a lifetime.
