Bonfire will kick off the Halloween season of suspenseful movies on October 2nd at the Tower Theatre. It is full of intense moments that will have you at the edge of your seat waiting for just a taste of what’s to come in each and every waking moment.
It’s about a young college graduate who goes to an annual bonfire with a group of friends. In an unlikely sequence of events someone amongst them snaps, turning this friendly event into a dangerous one.
While what goes on-screen is a feat within its own, due to the fact Bonfire is a no budget feature, behind the scenes is just as fantastic. The movie was created by Malcolm Owens and Tristen Moles; they built a team of brand new on-film actors to take the screen. The only person who had any film experience was the assistant director, Ethan Hudson. Despite multiple trials and tribulations such as people dropping out, COVID-19 pandemic, and the shoot taking place at night, Bonfire was skillfully completed by these dedicated and brilliant filmmakers.
In case you have any doubts, Malcolm Owens' script Terribly Good With Words gained him a position in the quarterfinals of one of the biggest screenwriting competitions.
People believed in these filmmakers so much that the movie’s GoFundMe for post-production costs reached $20,000!!!
