GPS has a smooth start to the school year

Guthrie Public Schools opened for students this morning. The High School stayed with a
practice started a few years ago of having a planned late start to accommodate the Senior
drive. The district administrators toured each building this morning visiting with students and
staff.
According to Dr. Mike Simpson, Superintendent of Schools, “This morning had an excitement
that was truly energizing. Students and teachers seemed eager to get to work. I felt that
energy from our staff at convocation and to also get the same feel this morning when the
students arrived gives me great anticipation about what lies ahead for this year.”
