Keith Lee Mackey, 84, of Edmond, died September 23, 2021 in Oklahoma City after a 13-year battle with leukemia (CLL).

The son of Lee and Viola Kroeger Mackey, he was born August 22, 1937 in Lucien, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepdaughter, Teri Maxwell.

Keith married the former Lavelle Mangum on March 26, 1978 in Oklahoma City.

He graduated from Oklahoma State University where his love of aviation started and led to the purchase of his first airplane. He became a flight instructor and pilot with multiple ratings. In conjunction to this profession, he started Mack-A-Do Construction and backhoe business.

Keith was a Seventhday Adventist Christian and member of the Guthrie SDA Church. He earnestly believed in the nearness of the second coming of Jesus and looks forward to the resurrection morning when the dead in Christ will be raised to go to heaven.

Survivors include his wife, Lavelle, of the home; son, Robert Mackey; stepdaughter, Charrie (Brian) Shockey, Ardmore, Okla.; grandchildren, Jared, Samantha and Miranda Mackey; step-grandchildren, Tyler (Lauren) Shockey, Nolan (Caroline) Shockey, Celeah (Steven) Neiman, Tianna Shockey and Falyn Maxwell; sisters Joyce Scheuer and Jane Mackey and brother Earl Dean Mackey.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Adventist World Aviation.

Services will be Sept. 29, 2021 at 2pm at the Southern Hills Seventhday Adventist Church in Oklahoma City with Elder John Moyer officiating.
