Tea Time: Guthrie Public Library’s Fifth Annual Crowns Tea


The Guthrie Public Library has partnered with the Oklahoma Humanities Council to host the Fifth Annual Crowns Tea on Saturday Feb. 22 from 1-4:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “I’m Every Woman” and Suzette V. Chang, the Director of Library Services, said the theme is a representation of the diverse attendees that come from across the state to participate in the event and serves as a platform for Oklahoma women to speak about who they are and push against traditional stereotypes of what an Oklahoma woman should be. 

Disco for Diapers: Community wide diaper drive


The average monthly supply of diapers per child is $80 and one in three families struggles to provide clean diapers for their baby. In Oklahoma, the total population under the age of 3 is 157,083 and most child care facilities require parents to provide diapers for their child. According to the National Diaper Bank Network, nationally 57% of parents experiencing diaper needs who rely on child care said they missed an average of four days of school or work in the past month because they didn’t have diapers.

Support the Friends of the Guthrie Public Library


The Annual Used Book Sale of the Friends of the Guthrie Public Library is on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. As in past years, the sale will be in the Fellowship Hall of the First United Presbyterian Church, located at 102 E. Noble Ave. in Guthrie. The annual meeting of the Friends will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Fellowship Hall with the members only pre-sale immediately following.
