Guthrie Rotary Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Hunter Smith. She is the daughter of Jennifer Roysdon and Michael Smith. Hunter is involved in Band, FCCLA, National Honor Society and Jazz Band. She was a FCCLA district officer and chapter President. She has also been a volunteer with Special Olympics. Hunter has been accepted to OSU but is undecided on a major. Mulhall-Orlando FFA Announces American Degree Recipients

The Mulhall-Orlando FFA is proud to announce their 2023 American FFA Degree recipients KayLea Taylor and Baylee Brown. The two recipients will receive their degrees at the 96th annual National FFA convention in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 1-4. Baylee Brown shares “I am extremely humbled and honored to have received my American FFA Degree this year, it has been a goal of mine to get it ever since I zipped up my corduroy jacket in the 8th grade. I hope that I can serve as an example to younger members of the M-O FFA that anything is possible with hard work, determination, and heart!”

Being in the Netherlands is a bit like visiting Seattle. Cities are very crowded with pedestrians all over. Bikes and scooters are the primary mode of transport in the central parts of the cities; one can see how if you never leave the central area of town, you have no need for anything else. Also, it rains a lot. I didn’t see a drop of rain on the rest of my trip, but I saw plenty in the Netherlands. Indeed, it had rained there off and on all week.

Territorial Governor Race In Full Swing

The annual Territorial Christmas Celebrations in Guthrie will soon once again grace the streets of this historic downtown Guthrie. Since 1992, the annual Celebrations commemorate the history of Guthrie as the original state capital of Oklahoma by looking back to Christmas in the very beginning of the city’s life. The town, with its charming 19th-century architecture and cobblestone streets, provides the perfect backdrop for this festive occasion, and local citizens dress in period-correct clothing to provide a back-in-time glimpse into Oklahoma history. Families from all over the region come to Guthrie to join in the merriment and step back in time to experience a slice of life from the territorial days.
