Two Guthrie residents were injured, and a Texas man was killed following a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 Thursday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Edmond Police Department, Edmond Fire Department, responded to the northbound lanes of I-35 north of Covell Road around 7:45 a.m.

The crash involved 59-year-old Don Channel, of Guthrie, 32-year-old Stanley R. Linzy, of Dennison, Texas, and 20-year-old Mackenzie Rowell, of Guthrie.

An Oklahoma Highway Patrol collision report states Channel was driving a 2005 flatbed wrecker in the southbound lanes. Both Stanley and Rowell were driving their vehicles in the northbound lanes of I-35.

OHP reports the wrecker truck went through the cable barrier and struck Linzy’s Dodge Ram truck and then struck Rowell’s Honda HR-V.

Linzy was transported to OU Medical Center and was later pronounced dead due to injuries sustained in the collision.

Rowell was transported to INTEGRIS Medical Center where she was treated and released with a hand injury.

Channel, the owner of D&S Wrecking in Guthrie, and a former city councilman, was pinned in the wrecker for 20 minutes until firefighters could free him. He was transported to OU Medical Center and admitted in serious condition with internal injuries.

OHP said the cause of the collision remains under investigation.
