Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson Monday told the Guthrie Board of Education that the Oklahoma Legislature is considering a number of education bills which include discussion of possible teacher pay raises.

At their September board meeting, State Board of Education members voted to request a $5,000 teacher pay raise from the Legislature in an effort to keep educators’ salaries competitive with surrounding states.

Dr. Simpson said any approval of teacher pay raises would likely come towards April or May.

In other matters, the school board approved summer driver’s education held at Guthrie High School.

Class sessions are from June 1 through July 22, and driving schedules from June 1 through July 31.

The school board also approved a renewal agreement with Frontline Technologies for Absence & Time Solution services for 2023-2024.

Dr. Simpson said this is the 10th year for the use of Frontline Technologies. Their time clock system is utilized by support employees. The absence system is a software that tracks employee leave and assigns substitute teachers.
