Taxpayers who would like to file their own Federal and State taxes for free will have a new option available this year. AARP Foundation Tax-Aide now has a Facilitated Self-Assistance (FSA) site at the Guthrie Public Library for taxpayers with adjusted gross income (AGI) less than $79,000. Appointments can now be made for 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesdays from February 6 through April 9 by calling the library at 405-282-0050.

With Tax-Aide’s FSA tax services, taxpayers can prepare and e-file their tax returns at no charge with assistance from IRS-certified volunteer tax counselors to answer any questions. FSA allows taxpayers to use the same interviewbased, IRS-approved tax preparation software used by over 25,000 Tax-Aide volunteers all across the U.S.

Here is some basic information on how the FSA process works: Schedule an appointment, to ensure a computer is available Gather tax information and bring to the appointment Upon arrival at the site, a volunteer will explain how to access the computer and set up a secure account in the tax preparation software A volunteer will be available to answer any questions during tax preparation When finished, the taxpayer will e-file their returns A printer will be available at the site if the taxpayer would like to print a copy of the returns.

For taxpayers who wish to have trained Tax-Aide volunteers prepare and file their taxes for them, or whose AGI exceeds $79,000, there are nine other Tax-Aide sites in the Oklahoma City metro area. Locations and appointment information for all Tax-Aide sites can be found at https://www. aarp.org/money/taxes/ aarp_taxaide/locations/
