Blevins second at Clay Tarter Invitational

Story by Mike MonahanMore than 1,100 runners made the second annual Clay Tarter Invitational a huge success this past weekend at Guthrie’s Cottonwood Flats.Guthrie junior Isaiah Blevins ran his best race of the year, finishing second in the high school varsity division Saturday with a time of 16:01.

8/26/24 8:32 AM – HARASSMENT: Oak Park, Caller reported a white female subject was yelling and cussing at her every time she steps outside her apartment. Caller advised the subject had been previously issued a trespass order for Caller’s address.

Local FFA student vies for national award

Zack Allen of the Guthrie FFA chapter in Guthrie, Oklahoma, has been named a national finalist this year for the Landscape Management Agricultural Proficiency Award. Only four FFA members nationwide are selected as national finalists in each agricultural proficiency award area.

Guthrie Chamber Ribbon Cutting

On August 14th, the Chamber held an official Ribbon Cutting for Community Church’s new Disc Golf Course and Trails. The course is located on the church’s property at 512 E. Seward Road and is open to the public. Thank you, Community Church, for sharing your property with the community!

D.A.R. Celebrates Constitution

The members of the Samuel King Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) are pleased to be partnering with the Guthrie Public Library to share in the celebration of the signing and ratification of the Constitution that occurred May 29, 1790.

Clay Tarter two-day meet at the Flats

The second annual Clay Tarter Memorial Invitational track meet is this Friday and Saturday at Cottonwood Flats.Because of the number of entries, the event has been expanded to two days with the 5th-8th graders running Friday morning and the high school teams running Saturday morning.

Logan County Free Fair this weekend

The Logan County Free Fair caps a very busy weekend in Guthrie. The fair opens on Thursday and closes on Saturday night after the livestock show. The Farm Hand Olympics is Thursday night to start some of the events.The pie and cake judging is Friday night in the education building.

Trinity Episcopal celebrates 135 years

Trinity Episcopal Church, which in 1889 became the first Episcopal congregation in what became Oklahoma and was known as the “territorial cathedral,” is celebrating its 135th anniversary this year. It was admitted into the Episcopal Union 72 days after the April 22nd Land Run.
