Commissioners Discuss Burn Ban at Thursday Meeting

When Logan County’s Board of Commissioners met Thursday morning, the group had plenty of discussion topics to address before the end of the 2021 calendar year. One of those discussion points was the possibility of a county-wide burn ban which would be in effect until Friday, Jan. 14.

Logan County Treasurer’s Office

The 2021 taxes are now available online to view and/or pay. First half tax payments are due by Jan. 14, 2022. No half payments will be accepted after Jan 14. Penalty will be assessed on Jan. 16 for full payments. The office will be closed on Dec. 23 & 24 in observance of Christmas.

Year in Review 2021

JANUARY 2021 Guthrie started 2021 off with a murder suspect, Colby Scruggs, turning himself in to Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux. Scruggs had been on the run for less than a day before turning himself in at a family member’s residence.

Collision on Division Street

A head-on collision happened over the weekend on Division Street. Penny Baker was driving southbound on S. Division Street while Robert Benson was traveling northbound. According to the Guthrie Police Department, Baker was blinded by lights of a vehicle behind her.

Grow House Catches Fire

An explosion was reported at the scene of a marijuana grow house catching fire in Logan County on Tuesday afternoon.  The facility, located near County Road 74 and Anderson to the west of Langston, had Logan County Fire Departments responding to the scene. The explosion destroyed the facility.

Woman in Custody after Escaping from a Logan County Deputy

A woman is in the Logan County Jail after escaping a Logan County Deputy’s custody, fleeing the scene and hiding until she was taken into custody again. On Dec. 20, Deputy Greg Randolph went to Payne County to transport Amber Marie Cottrell to the Logan County Detention Center in Guthrie.

Logan County Aging

The Logan County Aging Services, The Capital Trolley and the Logan Council on Aging teamed up on December 17 to deliver over 50 Christmas gift bags to Logan County seniors, many who are homebound.

Logan County Commissioners Expecting County Seal Design by End of the Month

Marven Goodman, Logan County District 1 Commissioner, updated the County Commissioners on his efforts to create a county seal on Wednesday, Dec. 15. The plan first came to fruition at the Dec. 6 County Commissioners meeting when Goodman mentioned the seal in the closing moments of the meeting.
