Woman in Custody after Escaping from a Logan County Deputy

A woman is in the Logan County Jail after escaping a Logan County Deputy’s custody, fleeing the scene and hiding until she was taken into custody again.

On Dec. 20, Deputy Greg Randolph went to Payne County to transport Amber Marie Cottrell to the Logan County Detention Center in Guthrie. After arriving at the detention center, Randolph took Cottrell out of the vehicle to enter into a booking area before Cottrell took off running.

Randolph said in the affidavit she ran west and then south by the football stadium and managed to slip off one of her handcuffs. Multiple deputies drove around the immediate vicinity, but they couldn’t locate Cottrell at the time.

According to the affidavit, Randolph and three other deputies received a tip of Cottrell’s whereabouts located at 128 Guthrie Housing Authority at 1524 E. Perkins. The deputies made contact with the tenant and were told nobody was home in the residence.

After the second round of questioning, the tenant let the deputies into the residence and said “come on guys, they know you are in here.”

At the scene, Kyler Womack exited the residence and was taken into investigative detention. He would be released later without charges.

The affidavit says the deputies then found Cottrell hiding in the bedroom closet. She was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Detention Center and was booked on a warrant and escaping from detention of a penitentiary or jail facility.

Cottrell pleaded guilty to Burglary in the second degree in August. A bench warrant was issued after she failed to appear in court on Nov. 30.
