Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Celebrates 129th Anniversary

Guthrie’s Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating its 129th Homecoming on Sunday, November 13th at 11:00 a.m. during morning worship. The theme will be “Grateful for a Gracious God.” This historic congregation began in Guthrie’s infancy, before Oklahoma’s statehood.

“In preparation for Veterans Day, November 11th, and the traditional program at Honor Park, members of the Guthrie Noon Lions Club recently helped beautify and “spruce up” the Veterans Memorial at the Park in downtown Guthrie.

City Council denies rezoning request for concrete batch plant

Guthrie’s City Council on Tuesday night unanimously denied a request to rezone an approximately 37-acre portion of property located along the south side of E. Seward Road between Sooner Road and Interstate 35 from R-1 (Single-family Dwelling District) to I-2 (General Industrial District).

County Commissioners approve donation of narcoticssniffing

Logan County’s Board of Commissioners on Monday approved a resolution accepting the donation of one female Fox Red Labrador from Big Thunder Kennels to the Sheriff ’s Department for narcotics detection. “We have seen the puppy, it is AKC registered,” Sheriff Damon Devereaux said.
