Guthrie Post 4578 Auxiliary gives to USO for Troops going for duty abroad

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts and the VFW Auxiliaries of Oklahoma District 9 (Chandler, Crescent, Edmond, Enid, Guthrie, and Post 9265 in Oklahoma City) donated thousands of home-baked and purchased snacks to be distributed to 1000 National Guard soldiers being deployed.

Voter Registration Deadline Approaches

Friday, March 10, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the April 4 Board of Education and Statutory Municipal General Elections and Special Elections, Logan County Election Board Secretary Sheleen Winscott said today.

Early Voting Begins Thursday

Early voting begins Thursday March 2 for voters in Logan County. Voters who will not be able to make it to the polls on Election Day, have the option of voting early at their County Election Board.

House Passes Education Plan

The House last week passed two bills that will increase public education funding and give parents more choice. House Bill 2775 would increase public school funding by $500 million for Fiscal Year 2024.

Guthrie basketball teams advance after regional splits

Guthrie High School’s basketball teams each split a pair of games in Class 5A regional action, but both teams advanced to the area round this weekend. On the boys side, the Bluejays defeated Lawton MacArthur 71-48. Nate Benford and Brayden Morgan led the way with 17 points each.

City Council adopts agenda-only speaking policy for meetings

Guthrie’s City Council on Tuesday voted 5-1 to approve a policy for residents wishing to speak at a City Council meeting. The new policy allows citizens to sign up and speak only on topics scheduled for that particular agenda.
