Sylvia Ochs to Retire at 93

On March 31, 2023, Ochs Real Estate will be closing its doors after 30 years. Its proprietor, Sylvia Ochs is retiring at 93 years. Following a lifetime of hard work, dedication, volunteer work, and growth, Ochs will be moving into a smaller office nearby.
“Braving gale force winds and freezing temperatures, members of the Guthrie Noon Lions Club recently picked up trash on their designated “Adopt A Road” (Noble Ave/ Hwy 33). Actually, the winds were 10 miles an hour and the temps were about 40 degrees but (front row) Jan Goodyear, Patti Chamberlain, Gary Weeks, Steve Gentling, (back row) Jeff Hirzel and Troy Jenkins were out there picking up the trash. Good Work and Thank You.”

Guthrie’s varsity baseballers thump Eagles

Head Coach Terry Bennett couldn’t have asked for a better start to the beginning of district play, as Guthrie’s varsity baseballers thumped the Del City Eagles in the home-and-home series this Monday and Tuesday.

Lady Bluejays drop season-opening games

Guthrie High’s Lady Bluejays opened their slow-pitch season last week with home losses to Newcastle, 14-7, and to Deer Creek, 21-10. In the opening game, Guthrie led Newcastle 6-3 after three innings, and it was 7-7 after four. But the Racers pushed across seven runs in the final three innings.

Eighth Grade Most Valuable Player

Pictured above, Savannah Ingle was named the Eighth Grade Most Valuable Player of the 2022-23 season and Emalyn Redman was named the Most Valuable Player for the Seventh Grade team.

James Ferguson takes 1st in the State Division III Essay Contest

Jimmy Ferguson is the son of Michael and Brandie Ferguson of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Jimmy is an active member of the Guthrie 4H club and currently serves as the club’s Vice President. He is also involved in the Logan County 4H Teen Leaders group where he serves as a Co-Recreational Leader.
