Norman Ray Pearce, 85, of Guthrie, OK passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born April 11, 1938 in Eufaula, OK to Alfred J. and Henrietta (Parker) Pearce. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Guthrie FFA Member Wins State FFA Agricultural Policy Speech Contest

Annabella Aitken of the Guthrie FFA Chapter won first place in the agricultural policy division of the state FFA speech contest during the 2023 Oklahoma FFA Interscholastics on April 28.
Zale Coleman-Hill, and Carson Olmsted placed 3rd at 1 and 2 singles Aycen Cortez and Isaiah Dearman, Mason Mayer and Ethan Bennett placed 4th at 2 and 1 doubles.

All Boys headed to State

Lauren Taylor and Jillian Minter placed 5th at 2 doubles at State. They only lost one match to Carl Albert in the second round. They lost in a tight 3 set match. 6-7, 7-6, 6-4. Second day of State they went on to defeat Riverfield soundly 6-1, 6-0. In the next round they beat Altus and in their match for 5th they defeated Duncan 6-2, 6-3.
