Elmer enlisted in the Coast Guard when he was 23 and was ultimately assigned as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class to the crew of the Landing Ship Infantry No. 85. Following 4 successful landings in Italy and North Africa, the “85” became known as the four leaf clover. Omaha Beach would change that.

Three Arrested for Abandoning Over 40 Cats

Three people were arrested Tuesday, May 28 after being accused of dumping over 40 cats on the side of the road in Guthrie.Brook, Jason and Keegan Wanzer were arrested following the discovery of the cats along Industrial Road by the Logan County Sheriff ’s deputy on Monday night.

Sports Museum Board Approves Merger

After nearly 30 years at its current downtown location, the Oklahoma Sports Heritage Museum will be merging with the Oklahoma Historical Center and shutting down operations in Guthrie.

FFA is an integral part of the Agricultural Education division in the Oklahoma Department of Career andTechnology Education system.With 29,670 members and 366 chapters, the Oklahoma FFA Association is the fifth- largest state FFA association.

The award is sponsored on the state level by Blue Mountain Equipment & STIHL. Georgia Pacific provides a $1,000 state winner scholarship.
