Elmer enlisted in the Coast Guard when he was 23 and was ultimately assigned as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class to the crew of the Landing Ship Infantry No. 85. Following 4 successful landings in Italy and North Africa, the “85” became known as the four leaf clover. Omaha Beach would change that.

Three people were arrested Tuesday, May 28 after being accused of dumping over 40 cats on the side of the road in Guthrie.Brook, Jason and Keegan Wanzer were arrested following the discovery of the cats along Industrial Road by the Logan County Sheriff ’s deputy on Monday night.
