School board hires new GUES principal, head softball coach

The Guthrie Board of Education Monday night approved the hiring of Michelle Wilson-Adams to be the next principal at Guthrie Upper Elementary School.She replaces Jeff Ball who served the district for 29 years, most recently as the GUES Principal for the 2023-24 school year.

City Council hears sales tax collection update

The Guthrie City Council Tuesday was updated by City Manager Eddie Faulkner about the City’s sales tax revenue, and budget planning for the next fiscal year.“We’re working actively on the budget at this time and we have begun the first round of negotiations with the FOP,” Faulkner said.

The Senate and House adjourned this year’s legislative session Sine Die this past Thursday, shortly before our constitutional deadline to complete legislative work for this year. In the final week of the session, the Senate passed a $12.

Logan County 4-H hosted a Fishing Derby on April 6th at Highland Hall Park, partnering with the Oklahoma Wildlife Department and Logan County Conservation District. Guthrie 4-H member Bobby Ferguson organized this event which was open to all kids in Logan County.

Sweger awarded Chief of the Year

In a ceremony held last week, Guthrie Police Chief Don Sweger was awarded the prestigious 2024 Small Agency Chief of the Year by the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP). The annual award recognizes an outstanding law enforcement leader serving a community of 15,000 or less.
