Guthrie, Crescent score big wins to stay unbeaten

Tigers, Bluejackets cruise to season-opening wins

The Crescent Tigers and Coyle Bluejackets opened their 2023 football seasons last week with convincing non-district road wins. The Tigers defeated Mooreland 41-16 on Friday, a day after the Bluejackets beat Fox 34-6. Crescent scored four times in the first quarter to lead 28-0.

Guthrie softball team off to 6-0 start

What a way to open the season! Guthrie High’s Lady Bluejays softball team won its first six games in a four-day span, starting at the Pryor Festival on Aug. 8 with a 5-2 win against Coweta and an 11-0 rout of Claremore.

Blevins, Read win Guthrie Mile exhibition

On a gorgeous night at the Clay Tarter track complex, the 2023 Guthrie High School and Guthrie Junior High School hosted a One Mile run night for families and friends. Isaiah Blevins edged out GHS Head Coach Bryce Balenseifen in the boys’ mile and Peyton Read won the GHS girls’ event.

Territorial Triathlon runs course in Guthrie_

Dozens of competitors competed Saturday morning in Guthrie at the 2023 Territorial Triathlon, which serves as this year’s Oklahoma State Triathlon Championship. The annual event, founded and operated by Roger Gartman, took place on Lakeshore Drive near Guthrie Lake.
