Lady Bluejays head to state

Guthrie High’s softball team, fresh off of a three-game regional sweep, will be in Shawnee on Thursday for the state playoffs, where the third-seeded Lady Bluejays will meet sixth-seeded Tahlequah (20-13) in the first round at 1:30 p.m.

Guthrie Lady Jays will head to State!!

Guthrie Lady Jays beat Noble 10-4 Friday afternoon to qualify for the State Tournament next week in Shawnee. Brackets will be out by Tuesday and see all of our game stories and photos in the October 11th edition. Go Lady Jays!!

Aska is a native of Logan County and Meridian. Aska played basketball for the Coyle Bluejackets, Redlands Community College as well as Southern Arkansas University. Aska is now pursuing his love for rodeo. Aska was the defending champion having won the title in 2022.

Tigers stay unbeaten with 34-14 romp

Senior running back CJ Wilson accounted for 184 yards in total offense and two touchdowns to power the Crescent Tigers (5-0, 2-0) to a 34-14 victory Friday night against visiting Christian Heritage Academy. Wilson had nine carries for 131 yards and added two catches for another 53 yards.

The Mulhall-Orlando Panthers (19-6) qualified by beating Granite 4-3 and Smithville 3-2 at the Fort Cobb-Braxton regional last weekend. They lost 14-2 to the No. 1 Fort Cobb team on Thursday but bounced back with the Smithville win to make the trip to Edmond this Thursday afternoon. They will face No. 2 Calumet (27-1), which has only lost to Class A No. 9 Okarche on Sept. 1. The Panthers are ranked No. 9 in Class B.
