New work schedule could give Guthrie firefighters critical rest

GUTHRIE — Local firefighters are moving from a traditional work schedule to one designed to reduce fatigue by increasing time off between shifts. Under a year-long trial run proposed by their union, Guthrie firefighters would work 48 hours followed by 96 hours off the clock starting Jan. 1.

From the time she was a young child, Kaydence Janzen knew exactly what she wanted to be when she grew up - a cosmetologist. As a student in the Cosmetology program at Francis Tuttle Technology Center, Janzen is working toward making that dream come true.

K-9 Deputy of the Year

Logan County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Deputy Long was recognized as the Region K-9 Deputy of the Year by the Association of Oklahoma Narcotics Enforcers at its annual banquet. Long and her K-9 partner, Lowry, have made an impact in Logan County.

ODOT launches inaugural snowplow naming contest

Oklahoma winters may be unpredictable, but one thing is certain: every snowstorm deserves a snowplow with a personality. The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is inviting K-12 students statewide to submit names for 24 of the agency’s winter-weather fleet in its inaugural Snowplow Naming Contest.
