Local track teams get season going

The spring break is over, and the local track teams got busy last week with Guthrie traveling to Okmulgee, and Crescent and Coyle going to Covington-Douglas for events. Guthrie event results: 4x100 meter relay: Lady Bluejays-third place, 52.76, Bluejays-fourth place, 46.

Wildcats Fall in State Quarterfinals

The Cashion Wildcats qualified for the Class 2A State Tournament for the second year in a row last week. This year, they got to play a game at the Jim Norick Arena (”The Big House”), but that trip only lasted a day as the Wildcats’ cold shooting in the first half led to a 47-37 loss to No. 7 Howe.

Theriot wins Timed Event Ironman event at Lazy E

If you have never been to the Timed Event Ironman Championships at the Lazy E in early March, you should put it on your calendar.

All-Conference Selections Announced

The All-Conference selections for the Suburban Conference were announced last week. Senior Kaiden Ballard-Stevenson was named to the All-Defensive Team, and junior TJ Kelly was named First Team All-Conference.

Logan County basketball seasons come to an end

The Guthrie High School basketball teams saw their seasons come to an end last week. First, the Lady Bluejays traveled to Lawton for regional action and lost 66-45 to Noble. The Lady Bluejays finish the season at 8-9 with no seniors on the team.

Cashion Advances to area round

The Cashion Wildcats are one game away from another trip to the Class 2A State Basketball Tournament. The Wildcats disposed of Stratford on Feb. 25 71-52 and then traveled to Latta on Feb. 27 to beat Wewoka 72-67 in the regional championship game. The Wildcats (20-3) will play Mangum (14-6) at 8 p.

Rotary Club Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Chandler Callaway. She is the daughter of Andy and Brian Callaway. Chandler has been very active with the Concert Choir, Pied Pipers and Jazz Choir. She has had leads and supporting roles in the musicals.

Guthrie sends nine to State Tournament

The Guthrie High School wrestlers have had a solid post-season so far. First, they qualified for the dual state championships in Enid on March 12.
