Lady Bluejays run rule the Irish to end district season

The Guthrie Lady Bluejays bounced back from the disappointing loss at Piedmont on Sept. 20 to beat Enid 11-2 and close out their district season with a double header sweep against Bishop McGuiness on Saturday.10-0 and 12-2 to finish 12-2 in district action and improve to 18-8 overall.

Bluejays defense skins the Wildcats 35-14

The Guthrie Bluejays went to Piedmont on Sept. 24 and despite falling behind 7-0, would score the next 28 points on the way to a 35-14 win over Piedmont in Piedmont. The Bluejays are 4-0 overall, 1-0 in district play, and it is Carl Albert Week in Guthrie on Friday night.

Area teams head for regional tournaments this weekend

Lady Bluejays lose in bottom of seventh, 4-3; Will host a regional with second place finish

DISAPPOINTED. That is the best way to describe the Guthrie Lady Bluejays softball team after dropping a walk-off 4-3 game to Piedmont on Monday night on the road. With the loss the Lady Bluejays will now be the second place team in District 5A-2 but will get to host a regional this year.

Bluejackets fall to 0-3, Tough district schedule awaits

The Coyle Bluejackets dropped a 50-0 decision Class B Garber on Sept. 17 in Coyle’s home opener. Garber recovered multiple onside kicks and Bluejackets’ fumbles that set up short fields for the visitors.

Wildcats bomb the Terriers 47-0

This one wasn’t even close as the Cashion Wildcats pounded the Thomas-Fay-Custer Terriers 47-0 on Sept. 17 in Thomas. This was the third meeting in the last year between the two teams with the last game for the state title in Edmond in December. The Wildcats have average 47.

Tigers run away from Newkirk 37-7, off this week

The Crescent Tigers won their third straight game on Sept. 17 when they ran away from Newkirk 37-7 in non-district action to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Tigers have this weekend off before traveling to Tonkawa on Oct.1 for their first district game.

The Guthrie Bluejays football team went on the road to Duncan on Sept. 10, and after surrendering their first touchdown of the year, rolled up 41 straight points en route to a 41-7 non-district win.

The Guthrie Lady Bluejays softball team had a short week last week when COVID issues sidelined the team. The Lady Bluejays lost their only game on the field to Class 6A Stillwater 10-1 in five innings.
