Area track teams tune up for region, state

Guthrie High’s track and field teams will travel to Edmond Memorial on Saturday for the Class 5A regional, while small schools travel to Western Heights this weekend for their state meets. The Class 5A state meet is May 10-11, also at Western Heights High.

Bluejays Soccer qualifies for playoffs on Senior Night

The Guthrie Bluejays qualified for the Class 5A soccer play-offs on April 19 with a 4-0 win over Midwest City on Senior Night. The Bluejays finish the regular season 8-4,52 in the district and will host Durant on April 29 at 7 p.m.

Lady Jays Golf

The Lady Jays Golf Team were Suburban Conference runners-up at John Conrad Golf Course in Midwest City. Rylin Wells shot an 80 with 2 eagles, Audrey Allen and Tatum Brown each shot 89, Maely Beeby shot a 92 with 1 eagle and Taegan Reyes shot a 102. The Lady Jays shot a team low of 350.

After 0-for-89ers, Jays Rebound Against El Reno

Maybe they were thinking about the delicious food at the food trucks along 1st Street. Maybe had their minds on the rides at the carnival. Whatever it was, the Bluejays baseball team had a dismal 89ers week on the diamond, including at their own tournament, going winless in five games.

Guthrie track teams among top 10 at Hornet Relays

Guthrie High’s track teams continued to get ready for the regional and state meets with a trip to Tulsa for the Booker T. Washington Hornet Relays. The Bluejays finished 10th with 23 points, while the Lady Bluejays were ninth with 30 points.

Field events lead Guthrie track at Yukon Meet

Guthrie High's field event competitors turned in the strongest efforts at the April 12 track meet in Yukon, loaded with Class 6A teams.It was a solid test for the Bluejays and Lady Bluejays as they get ready for the Suburban Conference meet and then the regional event.

Bluejays Continue to Struggle on the Diamond

Guthrie’s varsity baseball team continued to struggle last week, dropping two heartbreakers in district play and only coming away with a single win in five games played. On Tuesday, April 9, Guthrie squared off against the Noble Bears at Squires Field.

Local teams make their marks in Cashion Relays

The Cashion Wildcat track teams hosted their annual Wildcat Relays on April 5 for Class 4A and under schools. While none of the three local schools won team titles in either division, there were some solid performances as the teams began the home stretch of the season.
