Defense carries Coyle to road win

Carsen Hock scored twice and James Lackey recovered a pair of fumbles to lead Coyle to a season-opening 16-6 win at Pond Creek-Hunter on Friday.Hock hauled in a 55-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tyree Lancaster in the second quarter and scored on a 48-yard jet sweep in the third.

Cashion wins football season opener

Kellen Smith threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns as Cashion defeated visiting Hennessey 41-13 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.Smith completed 10 of 15 passes, including one to Grayson Davis that went for 84 yards and a touchdown.

Guthrie-Tuttle football showdown ‘a great battle’ to start season

If scrimmages against a pair of quality opponents are any indication, Guthrie High’s football team is ahead of schedule as it prepares to open the season at defending Class 4A runner-up Tuttle.The teams will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday inside Richison Family Stadium, 100 N.Cimarron, in Tuttle.
