James R. Dew passed from this life on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021 at his home in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

James was born on Aug. 11, 1962 in Sentinel, Oklahoma to Raymond E. and Nancy R. (McWhirter) Dew. James grew up in southwest Oklahoma and was a graduate of Sentinel High School.

James was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond E. and Nancy R. Dew of Guthrie, Oklahoma. His Grandparents; Mr. and Mrs. Obie F. Dew and Mr. and Mrs. George W. McWhirter of Sentinel, Oklahoma. His mother-inlaw; Betty L. Goodwin of Guthrie, Oklahoma and his brother-in-law; Samuel R. Goodwin Sr. of Guthrie, Oklahoma.

James is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara. He leaves behind two daughters; Suzzanne Davis and Husband Brian of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Karri Henning of OKC, Oklahoma. Two sons; Robby French of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Kirby Darbe Jr. and his wife Rachel of OKC, Oklahoma. One honorary son; Gerald Wade and his wife Andrea of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. James also leaves behind twelve grandchildren; Tyler Davison, Alexis Davison, Ashley Davis and husband Jeremy, Isaiah Rasheed, Jayden Henning, Emara Springer and husband Quinton, Emani Henning, Gabriel French, Noah French, Morgan French, William and Lily Darbe.

father-in-law; John T. Goodwin Sr. of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Two brothers; Kenneth Dew and his wife Sherry of OKC, Oklahoma and Robert Dew and his wife April of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Two sisters; Roberta Johnson of Guthrie, Oklahoma and Christina Lentz and her husband Levi of Guthrie, Oklahoma.

James leaves behind a host of other loving relatives and friends; he will be greatly missed!

James moved to Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1984 from southwest Oklahoma and was employed by the Guthrie Police Department. He served the community as a Master Patrolman and field training officer of new recruits. He also served as a member of the department’s Emergency Services Team.

James married his best friend Barbi (Goodwin) Darbe in 1988. They made their home in Logan Co., Oklahoma for the past 33 years.

James was employed by Townley Dairy (OKC) from 1988 to 1990 where he worked in product sales and delivery for the OKC Metro area.

James was also employed by Wonder Bread Hostess Cake (OKC). There he worked in product sales, delivery and route manager of the OKC Metro from 1990 until his medical disability retirement. James was employed at John Vance Auto Group (Guthrie) from 2012 to Present.

James was known as “Jimmy” to most of his family and friends. He was compassionate and kind to everyone and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a humble man and a true joy to be around. He loved his God in Heaven and he is forever in our hearts.

Memorial Services in celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Community Church 512 E. Seward Rd. Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044.
