Gary Wayne Seaton

1966-2026

Gary Wayne Seaton, a beloved husband, father, papa, and brother, passed away on October 15, 2026, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 85. He was born on July 29, 1941, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, to Troy Blaine Seaton and Lura Grace Seaton.

Gary attended Benedictine Heights School and made his home in the Guthrie and Edmond area throughout his life. On November 26, 1966, he married Josephine Ann “Jo Ann” Paul at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of marriage, raising five children and building a lifetime of memories. Through all the changes those years brought, they watched their family grow to include 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gary worked for many years as a management analyst at Tinker Air Force Base, retiring on July 31, 1999. He believed in working hard and doing your best, values he passed on to his children. As a father, he could be firm, and his guidance sometimes came with tough love, but his children grew to appreciate the lessons he taught and the ways he helped shape their lives.

Gary enjoyed golfing and was a member of the men’s golf association. His activities over the years also included the Donkey Basketball League and membership in the Knights of Columbus. While his children were growing up, he coached their baseball and soccer teams, giving his time and sharing in memories that would remain special long after the games were over.

Those who knew Gary best understood that he did not always need many words to make his love known. His family never doubted that they mattered to him. He remained a steady presence as his children grew, found their own paths, and raised families of their own. As Papa, he held a special place in the hearts of his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Seaton; his children, Brian Seaton and wife Tiffani, Michael Seaton and wife Alexis, Stephanie Weedn and husband John, Karen Huddleston and husband Mark, and Chris Seaton; his brotherin- law, John Hapak; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by countless nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy Blaine Seaton and Lura Grace Seaton, his stepfather, Joe Paul, his brother, Lawrence “Blaine” Seaton, his sister, Susie Hapak (Paul).

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church (900 S. Littler Ave, Edmond, OK 73034).
