1931-2026
Dorothy Brookshire Malone, age 94, of Edmond, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 15, 2026. One of nine children, Dorothy was born in Guthrie, December 14, 1931, to James and Orene Brookshire. After graduating from Guthrie High School, Dorothy married Glynn Malone and moved to Edmond where they raised their children.
Dorothy was never afraid of a hard day’s work. She began as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell and upon her retirement after 26 years of dedicated service, she then worked another 20 years as a telephone operator for the University of Central Oklahoma. After her second retirement, Dorothy stayed busy tending to her garden, where she found enjoyment nurturing the most vibrant red geraniums.
When she wasn’t working, Dorothy cherished time with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to the holidays, especially Christmas. She loved cheering for the OU football team, rarely missing a game, whether in person or on TV. She was also the best shopper, never overlooking a good sale or bargain. Dorothy was witty and her sharp sense of humor always kept you on your toes. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a true friend who will be dearly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn Malone; an infant son; two grandsons, Parker Milster and Brandon Malone; her parents, James and Orene Brookshire; and siblings, Arlene, Waldine, Ida Mae, James, Doyle, Raymond and Paul.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Milster; sons, David Malone and Matthew Malone; sister, LaWanda Carter; sisters-inlaw, Judy Brookshire and Barbara Brookshire; her grandchildren, Kristin Hughey, Jessica Weilbrenner, Shan Malone, Annie Marshello, Paul Malone, Sam Malone and Will Malone; and great grandson, Tucker Floyd, as well as a host of other family and friends.
We love you, Lady-Bug, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!
