Gary Lee Lacina, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2026, in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
Gary was born on September 30, 1936, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Donald Joseph Lacina and Alyce (Oakland) Lacina. He graduated from high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where he later married the love of his life, Conchita Jean Salazar, on November 15, 1958. Together they built a life filled with love, adventure, and unwavering devotion to their family.
Gary dedicated 36 years of service to the Federal Aviation Administration as a pilot. Aviation was more than a career. It was his lifelong passion. Whether flying airplanes, helicopters, or his beloved DC-3, he found joy and freedom in the skies.
Beyond aviation, Gary was a gifted builder who took great pride in constructing homes and barns with his own hands. He was a true cowboy at heart and had a deep love for horses and the outdoors. His strong work ethic, adventurous spirit, and ability to create something lasting with his hands were qualities that defined his life.
For the past 31 years, Gary made his home in Guthrie, Oklahoma, where he enjoyed the community and the life he built alongside his family.
Gary is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 68 years, Jean Lacina; his children, Douglas Lee Lacina and wife, Jean Vanise, Debra Jean Weinbel and husband, Cory, and Donald Scott Lacina and wife, Susan; his sister, Joyce Lacina Stem; seven cherished grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Joseph and Alyce Lacina, and his brother, Jim Lacina.
Gary will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, integrity, and remarkable talent. His love for flying, building, horses, and above all, his family, shaped a life well lived. His legacy will continue through those he loved and the countless memories they will forever hold close.
