Research committee honoring Gulf War veterans today

(STILLWATER, Oklahoma, Feb. 17, 2021) – The Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans’ Illnesses will be honoring Gulf War veterans during a subcommittee meeting today from 2 to 3 p.m. CT. Carey Pope, Ph.D., Regents Professor and Sitlington Chair in Toxicology at Oklahoma State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, is a member of the committee.

 

“This is the 30th anniversary of the Persian Gulf War (Desert Storm),” said Pope. “A number of unexplained illnesses in veterans serving in that war have been reported and many continue to have symptoms today. Anyone interested in medical/health research related to Gulf War illnesses is invited to participate.”
