Busy Weekend for Bluejay Baseball

Guthrie had a very busy weekend of baseball during their trip to Kingfisher’s annual “The Shed” tournament. The good news is they won three games. The bad news is their pattern of clutch comebacks against tough opponents finally fell short, and the Bluejays took their first loss of the season.

Lady ‘Jays softball falls to 7-6

Guthrie High’s softball team lost its first two games last week, but bounced back with a 13-8 victory against Mooreland. In that game, Codi Hibbs led the way with two doubles and a single, five RBI and four runs scored.

U.S. Territorial Marshals Reenactors Return To Guthrie

Prairie Grass Production’s U.S. Territorial Marshals are returning, once again, to the ‘89er Days Celebration. Those famous, bold men who rode for Judge Parker from 1850 to 1907 will come to life on April 22nd after the end of the ‘89er Parade at about 3:30 p.m. at the American Legion LeBron Post 58.

Singer/songwriter Bri Avila-Alhamdani (stage name “BriZee”) was born and raised here in Guthrie, Oklahoma. This local artist attended Guthrie Public Schools and was in Mr. Bill Perring’s choirs until her senior year when she attended Harding Fine Arts Academy in Oklahoma City.

Wind, Wildfires Wreak Havoc Over the Weekend

Multiple fires in southern Logan County, driven by very high and gusty winds, caused huge amounts of trouble all around Logan County last Friday and into the weekend. Initial fire reports began coming in as early as 2:00pm as a fire was reported near Bryant Ave and Simpson Rd in southwest Guthrie.

Logan County Emergency Management and other local agencies and charities are already working to gather resources from the community to help those affected by the fires in Logan County.
