May Declared as Mental Health Awareness in Guthrie

Stillwater, OKLA (May 1, 2023) – Mayor Steve Gentling has issued a proclamation declaring May 2023 as Mental Health Awareness Month in the city of Guthrie. The proclamation aims to shift from the stigma associated with seeking mental health services, raise awareness of mental health issues and provide information on available resources for the community.

Tulsa State Fair Ringmasters Award Scholarship to Hailey Drake & Maysen Garrett

Tulsa, OK -- The Tulsa State Fair Ringmasters have awarded a $2,000 scholarship to Hailey Drake & Maysen Garrett, of the Guthrie FFA Chapter. Hailey & Maysen have exhibited great character, work ethic and community involvement; these attributes are the qualities necessary to achieve success and further their educational career. It is with great honor Hailey & Maysen received the Tulsa State Fair Livestock Scholarship, and should be recognized for their agriculture involvement and achievements.

Bluejays golf team sends three to state championships

Guthrie High’s boys golf team had a rough day at the Class 5A regional at Cedar Valley on Monday, falling short of state qualifying by five strokes. But, three members of the team -- Devin Frey, Britt Drake and Justin Green -- did qualify for the 54-hole state championship individual play in Duncan om May 8-9.

Guthrie track teams score at rainshortened suburban meet

Guthrie High’s track teams completed their regular season in the rainshortened Suburban Conference meet on Friday and piled up a number of wins in their respective classes. The Lady Bluejays varsity team only had 11 events scored and finished second with 85 points, The boys varsity placed sixth with 35 points in 13 events.

Explosion and Fire at Marijuana Extraction Facility

Oak Cliff Fire responded to reports of an explosion and subsequent fire at a commercial building in southern Logan County late Thursday afternoon. Initial calls on the blaze came in just after 4:00pm, for a building on South Sooner Road, slightly off the road in an industrial building park just north of Charter Oak Road.
