Guthrie Rotary Students of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Students of the Week are Kynlee Smedley and Braydon Morgan. Kynlee is the daughter is Angie Young and Justin Smedley. Kynlee is active in basketball, Student Council and National Honor Society. She was honorable mention at Suburban Conference. After graduation, Kynlee plans to do her Prerequisites at Rose State to apply to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Moore Norman Tech. Braydon is the son of Natalie and Donald Morgan. He is active with track, basketball and National Honor Society. Braydon was Second team All- Conference and was on the tournament teams at CCS and Woodward. He is undecided about his future plans. Boller signs Letter of Intent with OCU

Body
Guthrie senior cross country runner Kamryn Boller signed a Letter of Intent on December 11th to attend Oklahoma City University in 2024. Boller who is a two time All-Stater (finishes in top ten at state meet), a three -time top 15 finisher at the state meet, and a four time qualifier for the state meet will major in nursing at OCU.

Bluejays win Community Christian Classic, now 5-0

Led by Guthrie senior Alex Clark, who was named the Most Valuable Player in the tournament, the Guthrie High School Bluejays basketball team posted a 64-48 win over host Community Christian School to claim the championship in its Classic tournament.

Kaedin Herendeen, Hall second at Mid America Nationals

Second-place finishes by Kaedin Herendeen and Bryson Hall at the Mid America Nationals in Enid sparked Guthrie High’s first week of the 2023-24 wrestling season. The Bluejays finished 11th among 30 teams in the tournament that included wrestlers from Texas, Utah, Washington, Kansas and Oklahoma.

City Council takes no action on sales tax extension election

The Guthrie City Council Tuesday night was updated about the Capital Improvement Project Committee recommendation to set an April 2, 2024, city-wide election for voters to decide on extending the city’s current CIP sales tax for another 10 years to help pay for muchneeded CIP projects.
