At 3:53pm this afternoon, Guthrie Fire-EMS and Logan County Sheriff's deputies responded to a vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 33 and Broadway, just west of Guthrie. Two vehicles, a white Buick Encore and a silver Chevy Silverado, were involved.
According to officials on-scene, the female driver of the Encore was heading north on Broadway toward Highway 33 and turned right onto 33 to proceed east toward Guthrie. The driver apparently did not see the oncoming Silverado and turned directly into its path as it was moving east. The driver of the Silverado was unable to slow down in time and struck the Encore, knocking both vehicles into the ditch and culvert area on the northeast corner of the intersection. The impact was severe enough to activate all of the Encore’s airbags.
The female driver was transported at 4:15pm to a local hospital, complaining of abdominal pain. No other injuries were reported.
