Prairie Grass Production’s U.S. Territorial Marshals are returning, once again, to the ‘89er Days Celebration. Those famous, bold men who rode for Judge Parker from 1850 to 1907 will come to life on April 22nd after the end of the ‘89er Parade at about 3:30 p.m. at the American Legion LeBron Post 58.

This exciting and educational performance by the Prairie Grass Productions reenactors have wowed and entertained ‘89er Days Celebration crowds for years with their historical performances, and the ‘89er Committee are excited to have them back again. The Marshals don’t act out any quickdraw or shootout exhibitions, but they share first-person styled, historically accurate information about the characters they portray, including Judge Isaac C. Parker; Deputy U.S. Marshals Heck Thomas, Bill Tilghman, Chris Madsen, Bass Reeves, and Frank “Pistol Pete” Eaton.

Before their performance begins, the Marshals will be judging the ‘89er Costume Contest. The contest is open to all ages. Entrants should wear their best ‘89er Days, Western, or Pioneer Woman costumes to the ‘89er Parade and then be at the American Legion before the Marshals show to register and be judged. Costumes will be judged by creativity/ originality, theme, and effort. The “Pioneer Woman” theme covers both women from the pioneer days as well as women who were the first in their accomplishments.

There will be a prize for both male and female winners.

All costume contestants should be sure to be at the American Legion as soon as possible after the parade ends, so that they don’t miss the chance to register and win. The American Legion is at 123 N. 1st Street in Guthrie.

There is no charge to see the U.S. Territorial Marshals show, and there is no charge to enter the contest.
