STILLWATER, Okla. -- University & Community Federal Credit Union is accepting applications for board of directors’ nominees until Monday, March 1 at 5:00 p.m. The credit union has three seats up for election this year, with the potential voteoccurring at its annual meeting on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
UCFCU traditionally holds the annual meeting in February each year, but with safety requirements due to COVID-19, the board and management decided to move the meeting to a different time of year and will be changing the format to a drive-thru meeting.
“Having members engaged in their credit union and able to attend the meeting in some way is very important,“ said Becky Dilbeck, UCFCU Board Chair. “The board felt we needed to make adjustments to ensure our members stayed informed about the performance of the credit union, but did so in the safest way possible.”
Management reviewed several options for their meeting format, and after conversations with other cooperatives who held annual meetings during the pandemic, felt the drive-thru format would be best.
“Other cooperatives and credit unions that used the drive-thru format shared they experienced an increase in attendance from previous years,” said Daniel Thrasher, UCFCU President/CEO. “We will also use video and social media the week of annual meeting to ensure our members receive all the information they would normally obtain at the annual meeting, even if they can’t attend.”
The board of directors recently adopted bylaw changes by a two-thirds majority vote to make a drive-thru format possible for the purposes of holding board elections. An official notice will be provided to all UCFCU members in their March statements, and board nominees will be listed on the credit union website and inside branch locations at least 35 days prior to the annual meeting.
