Three Mulhall- Orlando FFA members recently spent part of their summer investing in something that will last far beyond the school year: leadership. Dax Inman attended the Teen Session of the 2026 American Farmers & Ranchers (AFR) Cooperative Leadership Summit, while Braylea Lawson and Fletcher Inman participated in the Senior Session at Cedar Hills Baptist Youth Camp in Binger.
Throughout the week, students from across Oklahoma were challenged to think differently about leadership through hands-on activities, workshops, team competitions, and service projects. Every activity encouraged participants to step outside of their comfort zones, communicate effectively, and work alongside people they had just met. By the end of the week, strangers had become teammates, and teammates had become lifelong friends.
The Teen Session focused on introducing younger members to leadership through interactive games, problemsolving challenges, and activities that built confidence and teamwork. Dax Inman had the opportunity to strengthen his communication skills while learning that leadership isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about encouraging others and working together toward a common goal.
During the Senior Session, Braylea and Fletcher explored leadership on a deeper level. Through group discussions, servant leadership lessons, and collaborative challenges, they learned how small acts of service and intentional leadership can create a lasting impact within their schools, FFA chapters, and local communities. The week emphasized that the best leaders are those who are willing to serve first, listen well, and inspire others through their actions.
Beyond the scheduled activities, one of the greatest takeaways from the summit was the opportunity to connect with students from every corner of Oklahoma. Participants exchanged ideas, shared experiences from their hometowns, and formed friendships rooted in a shared passion for agriculture and leadership. Those relationships, along with the lessons learned throughout the week, are ones that will continue long after camp has ended.
The AFR Leadership Summit is designed to help students discover their potential while preparing them to become leaders in agriculture and beyond. As another school year begins, Dax, Braylea, and Fletcher return with new experiences, fresh perspectives, and a stronger understanding that leadership isn’t defined by a title; it’s defined by the willingness to serve others, build meaningful relationships, and leave every place better than they found it.
