The 95th ‘89er Days Celebration Queen Competition held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, was a momentous occasion for Guthrie, Oklahoma, showcasing the talented and dedicated young women in the community. One of the contestants, Lauren Steiner, a senior at Guthrie High School, has a deep passion for rodeo and barrel racing. Living with her supportive grandparents, Lauren made the decision to switch to online schooling to better accommodate her busy rodeo schedule. Her commitment to her education and rodeo pursuits has led to her upcoming graduation as an honor student, with plans to attend OSU-OKC in the fall to pursue a degree in sonography while continuing her rodeo endeavors.

Another remarkable contestant in the competition is Piper Gann, a freshman at Guthrie High School, who is actively involved in various agricultural competitions, cross country, track, and livestock showing. With a strong background in rodeo and a passion for working with horses and livestock, Piper’s dedication and diverse interests make her a well-rounded candidate for the 2024 ‘89er’s Princess title. Her achievements in both academic and equestrian pursuits reflect her hard work and determination, making her a deserving representative of Guthrie and its vibrant community. The competition between Lauren and Piper showcases the talent and ambition of the young women in Guthrie, highlighting their dedication to their passions and their community.
