The Oklahoma Association of Conservation Districts and Logan County Conservation District host annual speech, essay, and poster contests for youth across the county and state.
Speech Contest:
The annual speech contest is designed to educate participants about natural resources and their area conservation districts. The contest is open to students in the following divisions. Division I: 8th, , 9th , and 10th grades. Division II: 11th and 12th grades.
Essay Contest:
The annual essay contest is open to students in 6th , 7th, and 8th grades. Essays must be between 300-500 words in length and incorporate the annual stewardship week theme.
Poster Contest:
The annual poster contests provides k-12th grads students an opportunity to convey their thoughts about soil, water, and related natural resource issues through art. It also highlights the educational outreach efforts of conservation districts and their state associations, auxiliaries, and agencies. The contest follows the annual stewardship week theme of the National Association of Conservation Districts.
Logan County Conservation District 2022 Local contest winners are: Speech: Division II: Robert Ferguson Essay: Division III: James Ferguson Poster: Division VII: Ally Carey. Division VI: Gracie Ferguson. Division III: Maggie Ferguson.
The Area II meeting and awards presentation were held at Meridian Technology Center in Stillwater, OK on November 4, 2022. Three of our local winners won first place in there divisions. Speech: Robert Ferguson. Essay: James Ferguson. Poster: Ally Ferguson. These winners will be competing in the state contest on February 26th, 2023.
